🛸 Floor 5 — OSS Hope (Space Station 2071)

Orbital Space Station Hope 45-60 min

Overview: OSS Hope is a full-scale, functioning prototype of a future space habitat. Designed with input from former NASA engineers and the UAE Space Agency, it simulates daily life aboard a station in 2071. The experience begins with a 90-second media lift that simulates a rocket launch, complete with G-force vibrations and a viewscreen showing Earth receding.

🚀 Command & Control Deck

Visitors step into a replica of the station's nerve center. Real-time telemetry from the Hope Probe Mars mission is displayed on curved screens. You can monitor solar panel output, oxygen levels, and communication with "Earth". Interactive consoles let you reroute power during a simulated solar flare.

🌱 Hydroponic Greenhouse

A working aeroponic farm grows lettuce, tomatoes, and herbs under LED lights. Visitors can taste fresh produce (staff harvest daily). The system recirculates 98% of water. Touchscreens explain how this technology feeds astronauts and could solve food scarcity on Earth.

🛏️ Centrifuge Dormitory

See how astronauts sleep in rotating quarters that simulate partial gravity. Walk through a full-scale mock-up of a private cabin with a sleeping pod that tilts. Displays explain circadian rhythm management in space.

🔧 EVA Simulation Wall

A virtual reality spacewalk experience using haptic gloves. You'll "repair" a solar panel while floating above a digital Earth. Limited slots; book via RFID.

♻️ Waste-to-Energy Recycler

A clear-walled machine processes plastic waste into filament for 3D printing. Demonstrations every 30 minutes show how future stations will achieve zero waste.

🌌 Earth Gazing Lounge

A quiet room with large projected windows showing a live feed of Earth from the ISS (when available). Cushioned seating invites contemplation.

Additional details: RFID wristbands record your "pioneer profile" – you'll be assigned a role (engineer, biologist, pilot) and your choices affect light/sound. The floor also contains a scale model of the Mars Hope probe and a wall of 100 questions about humanity's future in space, answered by experts.

🌿 Floor 4 — The Heal Institute (Gene Bank & Digital Amazon)

Biodiversity Restoration Hub 40-50 min

Concept: The Heal Institute imagines a future where biotechnology reverses extinction and heals ecosystems. The floor combines a "digital gene bank" with a living rainforest.

🧬 DNA Vault

A 12-meter-long interactive wall projects 4,000 species – from the Arabian leopard to the Northern white rhino. Touch any species to see its genetic code, conservation status, and a "revival timeline". Real DNA sequences from the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture are used.

🌧️ Digital Amazon

A 270-degree immersive rainforest with mist, humidity, and scents. The forest reacts to your movement: birds fly away, plants glow when you approach. A 10-minute cycle simulates day/night and rain.

🪸 Coral Restoration Lab

Actual footage from UAE coral nurseries. Interactive microscopes let you examine live coral polyps. A touch tank (supervised) allows gentle contact with heat-resistant coral species developed by NYU Abu Dhabi.

🌾 Seed Bank Game

Children (and adults) collect virtual seeds from around the world and store them in a giant "Arctic vault" replica. The game teaches biodiversity hotspots.

💨 Carbon Capture Simulator

A physical model lets you adjust carbon capture towers and see the effect on global temperatures via an animated globe. Real data from UAE's Masdar clean-tech projects.

🔬 Wet Lab Zone

Benches with actual DNA extraction equipment. On weekends, scientists demonstrate how CRISPR is used to edit plant genes for drought resistance.

Behind the scenes: The Heal Institute collaborates with the Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund. The "gene bank" contains real genetic samples from endangered Arabian species (non-accessible to public, but displayed digitally).

💧 Floor 3 — Al Waha (The Oasis – Wellness & Senses)

Sensory Retreat 30-45 min

Philosophy: Al Waha is a deliberate technology detox. No screens, no data. The space uses natural materials – clay, rattan, stone – to create a sanctuary for mental well-being.

💡 Luminous Dome

Lie beneath a 4-meter dome where slowly shifting light frequencies (inspired by sunrise/sunset) guide you into relaxation. Sessions last 10 minutes; automated acoustic resonance.

🧘 Tactile Path

A barefoot walk across heated stone, cool marble, soft wool, and warm sand. Each texture is accompanied by a specific sound (crashing waves, wind).

📿 Aural Pool

A circular space with hidden speakers playing binaural beats. Visitors sit on curved stone benches and close their eyes. Soundscapes change every 15 minutes.

💌 Letter to Future Self

Write a message on plantable paper (embedded with wildflower seeds). Drop it in a "time capsule" – it will be mailed to you in 5 years (small fee for postage).

🌊 Water Ripple Installation

A shallow black pool where you can drag your hand and see projected ripples that transform into calligraphy. No instructions – pure play.

🧖 Silent Chamber

A soundproofed room with zero decibels. 5-minute sessions, pre-booking required via RFID (limited capacity).

Materials: The clay walls were hand-finished by Moroccan craftsmen; rattan ceilings woven by Emirati artisans. The floor's design has won several wellness design awards.

⚙️ Floor 2 — Tomorrow Today (Innovation Prototypes)

Real Future Tech 30-45 min

Rotating exhibition: Changes every 4-6 months. Current lineup (Q2-Q3 2026) features 14 exhibits from startups and research labs.

🦾 Phoenix Prosthetic Arm

A 3D-printed neural-controlled arm from Open Bionics. Visitors can try a lightweight demo version and control a robotic hand with muscle sensors.

🧠 AI Dermatology Scanner

Developed by MBZUAI: a camera analyzes your skin and spots potential issues. Real-time diagnosis with 92% accuracy (disclaimer: not medical device).

🍄 Mycelium Blocks

Grown by Mycoworks UAE, these construction blocks are fireproof, insulating, and compostable. You can touch and even smell the fungal material.

🚖 Flying Taxi Simulator

A full-scale model of the RTA autonomous air taxi. Sit inside and experience a 5-minute VR flight over Dubai.

🍔 3D-Printed Food

A working printer creates snacks from plant-based pastes. Tastings every Saturday (small fee).

🔋 Green Hydrogen Demo

A small electrolyzer shows how water splits into hydrogen and oxygen. The hydrogen fuels a mini fuel cell that powers a light.

Previous exhibits: Have included hyperloop pods, solar textiles, and AI-generated art. Check at info desk for upcoming rotations.

☕ Floor 1 — Lobby & Calligraphy Windows

Architectural marvel: The stainless steel facade features three poems by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, designed by Mattar Bin Lahej. The letters are windows – they let in light and can be seen from inside. The lobby also houses RFY robot cafe (two robotic arms prepare coffee), The Orbit restaurant, a gift shop with sustainable merchandise, and lockers (10 AED). Free filtered water stations.
